Around Australia

Writings and research on Chinese-Australian history is not well integrated geographically. Often the story is dominated by sources from NSW/Victoria only or it is regional. The differences and similarities between either various Chinese communities or the various colonies and states are generally neglected. Providing an integrated overview is a long-term project and here a beginning only is proposed by focusing on Chinese-Australian history on a colony by colony and state by state basis as a first step.

A possible breakdown is:

Sydney & suburbs

Melbourne & suburbs

Rural NSW (Riverina, Nth NSW, Central Tablelands)

Bathurst district (NSW)

Orange

Rural Victoria (Ballarat, Bendigo, Arrat)

Queensland (Brisbane, Northern Queensland)

Northern Territory

Tasmania

South Australia & another

West Australia
